PowerDNS or PDNS is an open-source authoritative DNS server software that works as an alternative to traditional bind (named) DNS and allows to resolve domain names of all companies in the world.

PowerDNS offers two separate DNS server software solutions; an authoritative server and a recursive server, while other software solutions combine the two into one product. Combined or offered separately, these products can both assist small installations and offer a solution to very large and demanding spaces.

PowerDNS offers better performance and has minimal memory requirements. PowerDNS also works with many supporting backends, from simple zone files to complex database setups and various SQL platforms (Mysql, MariaDB, Oracle, PostgreSQL).
